Independent Covid-19 Science for Public Understanding

The Coronavirus pandemic has brought unprecedented challenges to global health systems, economies, and societies. In the midst of uncertainty and fear, there arose a need for reliable, evidence-based information to help people navigate through the crisis. The “Coronavirus: Flatten The Fear” project was born out of this necessity, aiming to provide an independent, research-driven perspective on public health issues related to COVID-19.

Completed: January, 2022
Client: Belgian and Dutch people looking for independent science

Project Details:

The project comprises a series of “infobladen” (information sheets) that delve into various aspects of the pandemic, debunking myths, analyzing data, and offering insights based on scientific evidence. Each “infoblad” addresses a specific topic related to COVID-19, ranging from the effectiveness of masks to the impact on mental health, and presents findings in a clear, accessible manner.

As part of the project, extensive research was conducted to gather data from reputable sources, including scientific studies, public health agencies, and expert opinions. This data was then analyzed and synthesized to create informative “infobladen” that help individuals make informed decisions and understand the complexities of the pandemic.

Highlights:

Fact-Checking: Infobladen such as “Enkele checks op veelgehoorde coronaverhalen ivm Zweden” (A few fact checks on commonly heard COVID-19 stories regarding Sweden) debunk common myths and misconceptions surrounding the pandemic, providing accurate information to the public.

Statistical Analysis: Infoblads like “Statistieken van de geestelijke gezondheid sinds coronacrisis” (Statistics on mental health since the coronavirus crisis) analyze data to understand the impact of the pandemic on mental well-being, shedding light on an often overlooked aspect of the crisis.

Evidence-Based Recommendations: Infoblads such as “Wat zijn de prioriteiten bij het beschermen van de volksgezondheid?” (What are the priorities in protecting public health?) offer evidence-based recommendations for policymakers and individuals alike, guiding efforts to mitigate the spread of the virus and protect public health.

Conclusion:

“Coronavirus: Flatten The Fear” serves as a valuable resource for those seeking a well-researched, independent perspective on public health issues amidst the COVID-19 pandemic. By providing evidence-based information and debunking myths, the project aims to empower individuals and communities to make informed decisions and contribute to efforts to combat the spread of the virus.
